Marcos André: "I've been really looking forward to a full preseason"
Scorer of a brace in Valencia CF's 4-2 defeat against VfB Stuttgart, Marcos André spoke to VCF Media after the final whistle to reflect on a friendly in which the team continued to prepare for the LaLiga season.
His performance
"On a personal level, I feel very good. I'm very pleased, and I was really looking forward to starting a preseason from zero. It's something that I wasn't able to do last year. I'm very pleased."
Responding to Gattuso's instructions
"I did what the coach asked of me. He told me to always look to get into the box, which is where everything happens. I'm looking to do what he asks, and it's working phenomenally for me."
The result
"We came into this one off two very good games. We played the same style today, but unfortunately we couldn't get a third victory today. That's football: You have to learn and correct things, making sure mistakes aren't repeated."
Fit for 2022/23
"I was really looking forward to this preseason, and to doing things well and working hard. I've been training for a few weeks in order to be fit. I'm happy. I wanted to get going and show what I hadn't been able to do last year. Little by little I'm feeling good, and I'm raring to go."
Correcting mistakes
"It's never good to lose like that, but we have a good idea of our playing style and we are doing well -despite losing the way that we did, which is never good. Preseason is for correcting mistakes so that they don't happen in LaLiga. We also did some things well today, so we'll take that away."
